email address

In 1998, 25 nurses interested in promoting quality pain management for their patients as well as an educational forum for nurses to meet/learn/exchange information met to form our regional ASPMN chapter. In fact, 5 of those original 25 nurses still remain active in our chapter today. Our first chapter educational program was in October, 1998: “Pain Management: Trouble Shooting in the Home”.

Since our inception, the CMC has presented at least 3-4 educational offerings per year, worked with the national ASPMN organization in promoting their yearly conference -- our members have also been active in various ASPMN national committees and lecture efforts, and offered opportunities for nurses to come together and discuss current standards of practice. We welcome members as well as nonmembers at our programs because pain cuts across all nursing disciplines. In an effort to keep growing and evolving with the times, in 2012 we implemented a website ( that will facilitate member/nonmember communication and partnership.

To quote our first chapter president, “Memberhip in ASPMN, or any professional organization, is a give and take relationship … take advantage of the national (ASPMN) and chapter (CMC) benefits and contribute your unique experiences, talent and knowledge to the organization. Your contribution will be returned to you many times over.”
